Summer Concerts, Races & Homeruns: Join Team Susquehanna for Some Fun this Season!

Susquehanna is active in our communities year-round, but summer affords us the benefit of being outside and celebrating not only some great nonprofit partners, but this awesome weather as well! Join us for a few of the exciting events we’re sponsoring this summer — including concerts, a 5K run, a rubber duckie race, and a homerun contest!

Long’s Park Summer Concert Series welcomes Danny Kortchmar - Sunday, July 17, 7:30pm at Long’s Park, Lancaster, PA

Susquehanna is proud to serve as a presenting sponsor again this year of the Long’s Park Summer Concert series, an award-winning line-up of performances held FREE each summer Sunday evening in Lancaster. Join us at the park for this special performance by Danny Kortchmar, the iconic ace session guitarist and songwriter who helped create the signature sound of the Singer-Songwriter Era through extensive work with Carole King, James Taylor and other legends. Bring your lawn chair!

The XPoNential Music Festival – July 22-24, Wiggins Park at the Camden Waterfront, Camden, NJ

A weekend of incredible indie music from our friends at XPN, member-supported radio from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.  Team Susquehanna will be playing “Rock Band” outside the main entrance – stop by and give it a shot – and if you don’t get boo’d offstage, maybe even win some cool prizes!

Ron Jaworski’s Quarterback Scramble 5K – Sunday, July 31, 8am start, Stone Harbor, NJ

Childhood obesity is a major issue, and one that Ron Jaworski and his JAWS Youth Playbook Foundation are looking to tackle! Join Susquehanna at this amazing 5K Run / 1 Mile Walk on July 31 and be part of the solution. Susquehanna is proud to partner with the Jaworskis for all of their 2011/2012 events.

The Schreiber Pediatric 23rd Annual Rubber Duckie Race – Sunday, July 31, 2pm – 5pm, Lancaster County Central Park, Lancaster, PA

Little ducks that make a big difference. You’ve honestly not lived until you see the Conestoga River inundated with thousands of rubber ducks all racing through the “rapids” towards the finish line! Susquehanna supports Schreiber Pediatric all year long, but this is the only event where we get drenched in the process (staying upright in an inflatable dinghy surrounded by ducks is challenging).

Harford Family House Homeruns for the Homeless – August 9, 2011, 8am – 5pm, Ripken Stadium, Aberdeen, MD

Knock one out of the park for Harford County’s homeless families! Harford Family House is one of the only organizations serving the homeless in Maryland that is capable of keeping a family intact during times of crisis. And this awesome event is their cure for the traditional golf outing! Teams take turns at bat, and the one with the longest yardage wins (and gets a trophy, more importantly, bragging rights for the year). Are you a ringer? Let us know!
