In hard economic times, more families are at risk for hunger. At the same time, local food banks are experiencing a drop in food and monetary donations. That’s why we’re proud to announce the launch of our second annual #Tweet2Feed campaign to support food banks in our market area. By participating, you can help to donate up to 30 meals for families and individuals in need simply by using your Twitter and Facebook accounts!
Last year’s campaign was a huge success with more than 200,000 meals donated. This year we’re striving to donate a quarter of a million meals! Here’s how you can help.
Now through December 31:
- Follow us on Twitter and/or Like us on Facebook and we’ll automatically pledge 10 meals to local food banks (that’s 20 for doing both!).
- Retweet one of our #Tweet2Feed tweets during the campaign and/or share one of our Facebook posts, and we’ll pledge 5 meals (that’s 10 for doing both!).
With just a few clicks you can donate a total of 30 meals! You’ll also help spread the word that while the need is great, there are a lot of things we can do to help hungry families this holiday season and throughout the year.
I also want to mention that if you’re considering opening a new checking account or switching your accounts to Susquehanna Bank, now is a great time to do that and further your support. 50 meals will be donated to local food banks for every personal checking account opened by December 311.
More information, including an easy way to find your local food bank, can be found on our Facebook page or on our Website at susquehanna.net/tweet2feed. If you’re on Twitter or Facebook, please follow/like us and retweet/share! If you’re not on Twitter or Facebook, please share this page with someone who is, so they can help us reach our goal of donating 250,000 meals.
Special thanks to our #Tweet2Feed food bank partners for their support of this campaign, and, most of all, for their tireless support of our communities: Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, Philabundance, Second Harvest Food Bank of Lehigh Valley and NE Pennsylvania, Greater Berks Food Bank, The Weinberg Food Bank, Maryland Food Bank, Community Food Bank of New Jersey – Southern Branch, Food Bank of South Jersey and Mountaineer Food Bank.
Don’t forget, local food banks need your donations of time, food and money all year long. To help find a food bank near you, visit the Food Bank Locator on the Feeding America website.
1 For every new personal checking account that is opened between November 1 and December 31, 2011, Susquehanna Bank will donate 50 meals to select food banks that serve individuals and families in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and West Virginia. An additional 10 meals will be donated for each month from January 2012 through May 2012, when these customers perform at least 3 Visa Check Card signature or PIN purchases.
