You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice cream! June is National Dairy Month – Part 2

Due to overwhelming feedback from our employees, this week we will continue to feature favorite ice cream spots in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland.

Pennsylvania:

Pop’s Ice Cream 150 W. Eagle Road, Havertown – Great water ice and mint chocolate chip ice cream.

Pretzel Hut 2224 Furnace Hills Pike, Lititz – Enjoy unique soft-serve flavors like peanut butter and jelly, pistachio, butterscotch and raspberry and cream twist. Small petting zoo in the back.

Rakestraw’s 313 S Market St, Mechanicsburg – Favorite ice cream: black raspberry.

Rainbow Snow & Ice Cream 103 N Railroad St, Palmyra – Stuffed snowball – ice cream in crushed ice; peanut butter/chocolate and raspberry soft serve, a variety of snow cone flavors.

Schiano’s Ice Cream and More Route 147 Herndon – Favorite ice cream: Peanut butter ripple. Awesome staff, great service, great ice cream.

Scoupe Deville 3365 Main Street, Birdsboro – Unique flavors, including espresso bean. Locally owned by long-time residents, 50’s style look and feel. Located near a hiking/biking trail parking area, so great place to stop after a nice outdoor activity.

Simply Twisted 587 Horsham Road, Horsham – Favorite ice cream: cake batter. Offers 10-12 different flavors of frozen yogurt, your choice of 30-40 toppings.

SquireSide 504 East Main Street, New Holland – Favorite ice cream: banana split sundae and brownie blast sundae.

Strasburg Creamery 1 West Main Street, Strasburg , http://www.strasburg.com/Strasburg-Creamery/     Favorite ice cream: black raspberry and sugar cookie.

Sweet Willows Creamery 2812 East Prospect Rd., York – Favorite ice cream: chocolate/peanut butter.  Many unique combinations offered.  The owner was trained through Penn State’s Berkey creamery program.

Tanners Brothers Dairy Farm Market 1070 Hatboro Road, Ivyland – http://tannerbrothersdairy.com/ Favorites: banana split ice cream, chocolate milk and chocolate milkshakes!

The Cone 55 West Penn Avenue, Wernersville – Favorite ice cream: raspberry and pumpkin soft serve. A walk-up ice cream eatery shaped like an ice cream cone.

The Meadows  4636 Jonestown Rd., Harrisburg  - Favorite: orange Italian ice with original custard.

The Purple Cow 4716 Old Turpike Rd., Lewistown – Favorite ice cream: peanut butter soft-serve

The Udder Choice 1812 West Main Street, Ephrata – Favorite: “udder split” banana, two scoops of your favorite ice cream, two toppings, whipped cream and a cherry. Restaurant looks like a barn; lots of ice cream memorabilia.

Tropical Treat 2279 Carlisle Pike, Hanover – Favorite: fresh strawberry sundae. Drive-in carhop service

Way-Har Farms Route 183, Bernville – Favorite ice cream: teaberry. Family-run business; milk and ice cream processed right on site.

 

New Jersey:

Custard Corral 2100 Mayslanding Rd., Millville – Favorite: brownie batch strawberry patch – bits of homemade brownies, shortcake, strawberries, vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. Extensive menu of sundaes; fun place, barnyard setting, goats and play area for children.

Del’s Custard & Yogurt  907 North Main Road, Vineland http://delscustardandyogurt.com/ – Favorite:  vanilla custard and banana split ice cream. Large servings for a good price.

Royal Crown 1051 S. White Horse Pike, Hammonton – Favorite: cherry sundae with hand-dipped Royal Crown chocolate ice cream, whipped cream and a cherry on top; blueberry soft serve. An icon in the area.

 

Maryland:

Debbie’s Soft Serve 22309 Old Georgetown Rd.,  Smithsburg http://www.debbiessoftserve.com/  Favorite: “Hurricane” – vanilla ice cream with Reese’s cup and M&M’s mixed together.

Hoffman’s Ice Cream 934 Washington Rd., Westminster http://www.hoffmansicecream.com/ Favorite ice cream: strawberry cheese cake or apple pie. Good homemade taste; reasonable prices.

Livvy’s  13125 Warrior Dr. SW, Creaptown – Big portions, low cost, great taste and a variety of special sundaes.

Maugansville Creamery 13803 Maugansville Rd., Maugansville – Wonderful Hershey ice cream; locally owned and operated.

Misty Meadows Creamery  14230 Misty Meadow Road,  Smithsburg – Favorite ice cream: cheesecake ice cream.  Great milk and cheese; petting zoo for the kids.

Mr. Yogato Fells Point  723-A S. Broadway ,  Baltimore  http://mryogato-fellspoint.com/ Favorite:  frozen yogurt topped with mango slices and sprinkled with wheat germ. Awesome, non-fat frozen yogurt made daily. Also enjoy a toppings bar.

Queen City Creamery 108 Harrison Street, Cumberland  http://www.queencitycreamery.com/ Best ice cream ever!

 Superior Dairy 500 Chestnut Street, Hagerstown – (Recommended by 5 employees) Favorite ice cream: butter pecan, red velvet, black raspberry, peach cobbler, blackberry, orange pineapple and strawberry ice cream as well as a pineapple smoothie.

By the way, June is National Dairy Month, so take some time to thank dairy farmers for their hard work and enjoy some ice cream!
